Quick Start

In this video, I’m going to explain the basics of Chamilo Studio.

And I’m going to show you how it works inside a Classic Chamilo LMS platform.

It’s important to understand how Chamilo Studio and your platform work together.

Chamilo Studio is a complete page builder.

It is an interface where you can edit all of your pages, and where  you have access to your plugins, theme and your settings, all which you can only see when you log in.

With a page builder you can edit your page directly and go straight to the live page.

You will get a sidebar with different options and you can drag and drop different elements on the page.

With this method you can edit your pages super-fast with an experience that’s similar to a design tool.

Now, let’s build our first page.

So, here I am on the editor on a blank new page and I can just drag the elements out of the “sidebar” on my elearning page as I like.

For example, I am going to drag a video to a canvas and then, I will place a youtube link here, or choose a file, and just like that, I have a video on my elearning content.

If I click here to add a title for instance, I am free to type the title in place. Super easy

For structuring your content on the page, drag a simple Column or two Columns.

To use the two Columns, drag a text box here, and an image to the second column.

The Text Editor widget is a WYSIWYG editor that behaves just like the classic visual editor.

You can enter rich text, links or images.

I can also drag a button to the page.

The button element can create a navigation compartment.

Choose style and behavior using ‘Next Page’ , ‘Previous page’ or ‘Custom Behavior’ with a no-code editor.

At any moment you can view your content as a learner, with the button “Play”

Do you want to add some exercises ?

I can drag a quizz element.

Click the edit button.

Insert the question and possible answers, mark the correct answer.

Save the element.

More exercises ?

I can drag a “Drag the Words” element.

The “Drag the Words” question type allows creatives to create text-based challenges, where users need to drag words into blank spaces in the sentences. Excellent for language training, among other things.

Click the edit button.

Insert the title and answers, the missing expressions are surrounded by stars.

Save the element.

Add a speech bubble element

Just like comics, in elearning characters speak through text that appears in speech bubbles.

Drag a “Dialog” element.

Click the edit button.

Choose a character.

You can enter text of your choice, links or images.

Save the element.

Add an iframe element

An iframe is used to embed another document into the current elearning page.

Drag an “iframe” element.

Click the edit button.

You can enter a link and custom edit the height of the frame.

Save the element.

How can I publish my elearning ?

Your content is directly published online. You don’t need extra steps like export/import.

In other cases you can export your project to a Scorm package in order to publish it to another platform like Moodle , Claroline or other LMS.

How to import my elearning in my LMS ?

Login into administrator or teacher profile.

Go to your course page.

Select “Add a SCORM package”

Simply drag and drop your SCORM package into the appropriate week on Moodle.

And then click “Upload”.
